Terrace of the Tuileries in 1798

Vintage art from Paris by Francois Courboin showing On the Terrace of the Tuileries, Year VI (1798). The Tuileries is a public garden in Paris created by Catherine de Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution.

Following the French Revolution (1789-1799), the 19th Century was a tumultuous time for France as society attempted to restructure its social value system. Courboin beautifully illustrated the changing fashions of this period.

This is a fine art print of a lithograph made in the late 1800s by Francois Courboin.
