Balloon Ascent Of Madame Blanchard In 1803

Fine art print of a early hot air ballooning. Titled "Ascension de Madame Blanchard au Champ-de-Mars, 1810."
Sophie Blanchard (1778 – 1819) was a French aeronaut and the wife of ballooning pioneer Jean-Pierre Blanchard. She was the first female professional balloonist, making more than 60 ascents. Blanchard entertained Napoleon Bonaparte, who promoted her to the role of "Aeronaut of the Official Festivals".
