Vintage botanical art from Le Jardin Fleuriste by Charles Lemaire showing a balloon flower (Platycodon autumnali). Charles Lemaire was a prominent botanist and was involved with many of the most important botanical works.
This is a fine art print of a lithograph from Jardin Fleuriste. Le Jardin Fleuriste was published from 1851 to 1854, in an era of travel and exploration. Plants from around the world were being collected and bought back to Europe and eagerly studied by botanists and horticulturists.
