Fine art print inspired by John Gerrard Keulemans.

Features the Little Spotted Kiwi (Apteryx owenii) formerly known as the Little Grey Kiwi.

Buller said : "The Grey Kiwi is distributed over a great portion of the South Island, and in some of the remote districts is still very abundant. Till recently it was not known to occur in any part of the North Island... A fine specimen for which I am indebted to Mr. Morgan Carkeek, of the Survey Department, was obtained by that gentleman on Mount Hector, at the head of the Hutt river, in December 1875. It was caught by his dog among the snow-grass, at an elevation of about 3000 feet. At a higher altitude he found the species comparatively abundant, and he met with it occasionally below the snow-line, frequenting mossy places in the bush free from undergrowth."

Walter Buller KCMG (1838 - 1906) was a New Zealand lawyer and naturalist. His work, "A History of the Birds of New Zealand", was first published in 1873 and as an extended version in 1888. It is regarded as a classic of ornithology and New Zealand wildlife and describes several now extinct birds.

The artist who illustrated the birds was John Gerrard Keulemanns, regarded as one of the finest wildlife illustrators of all time.
