Carnivorous Plant Art

Carnivorous plants have intrigued scientists and collectors for centuries, e.g. Charles Darwin proved that some plants were carnivorous. Expeditions in the 18th and 19th century discovered many carnivorous plant species, such as Nepenthes, Sarracenia and Drosera. Wonderful illustrations were prepared by botanical artists during these expeditions, and these have inspired our carnivorous plant art
Over 600 species are now known to be carnivorous, digesting insects and even small animals such as frogs.
Our carnivorous plant art is based on vintage botanical illustrations from the period 1600 to 1920.
We make them with superb pigmented inks and heavyweight 300gsm German fine art paper made from 100% cotton and spring water.
