Cowrie Seashells (I)
Fine art print.
Features cowrie seashells. The term "porcelain" comes from the old italian term for the cowrie shell (porcellana) due to their similar translucent appearance. Cowrie shells were used as currency in several parts of the world. They are extensively used in jewellery.
Based on an engraving made in the 1790s by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, which we have carefully restored and enhanced.
