Deer have significant roles in mythology and art of various peoples. The Celts thought they were supernatural and herded by a fairy giantess who could shift shape to that of a red deer. In Greek mythology, the deer is associated with Artemis the virginal huntress. In Japanese Shinto, deer are considered messengers to the gods. Deer and stags have been beautifully illustrated for hundreds of years. Our deer art prints are inspired by rare vintage illustrations from the period 1600 to 1920. We make them with superb pigmented inks and heavyweight 300gsm German fine art paper made from 100% cotton and spring water.
