Echidna Eating
A superb vintage illustration of two echidna, one sleeping and one eating. The German name for the animal was "Das Echidna-Tier". Echidnas are monotremes (order of egg-laying mammals). The four species of echidna, together with the platypus, are the only surviving members of that order and are the only mammals that lay eggs. They live in Australia and New Guinea.
Based on an antique print from the early 1900s by Heinrich Harder, which we have carefully restored and enhanced.
