George Selby Howard was a distinguised English scientist and lawyer.
In 1788 he created "The New Royal Cyclopaedia and Encyclopaedia".
George declared it was "critically illustrated with very large superb copper plate engravings...and very copiously explained in the most clear and satisfactory manner."
The engravings are some of the finest of their genre, as they group similar things together.
