It was especially popular from the 17th to 19th centuries, perhaps due to the power and influence of Great Britain's navy and commercial shipping at the time. Marine art includes shipping on rivers and estuaries, beach scenes and all art showing boats, Marine art evokes thoughts of travel, adventure, excitement and history.
