Vintage art by Pierre-Joseph Redoute showing Noisetier Franc A Fros Fruits (Corylus maxima) or Hazelnuts.

Hazel has been grown historically in coppices for use in wattle and daub buildings, and in hedges. The Romans were also known to have cultivated hazelnuts including in Britain.

Redoute's roses,flower and fruit are widely regarded as the finest botanical illustrations of the 18th and 19th centuries.

This is a fine art print of a lithograph made in the late 1700s by Redoute.
