Vintage botanical art by Shirley Hibberd showing Mr Veitch's Calathea (Calathea veitchiana) endemic to Ecuador. This plant was discovered by the Victorian plant collector, Richard Pearce in 1862, and named in honour of his employers, James Veitch and Sons.
