Vintage botanical art by Edward Step featuring Yellow and Spring Crocus (Crocus aureus and crocus vernus)
Cultivation and harvesting of crocus was first documented in the Mediterranean, notably on the island of Crete. Frescos showing them are found at the Knossos site on Crete,as well as from a comparably aged site on Santorini.
This is a fine art print of a lithograph made in the late 1800s by Step.
