Elephant Art

The elephant symbolises strength and wisdom. Wisdom is represented by the elephant in the form of the Indian god Ganesh.  The African elephant is seen as the wise chief. Medieval Europeans knew little of the elephant and their portrayals are amusingly inaccurate. During the period 1600-1900, the golden era of exploration and scientific discovery, elephant art became more accurate. 
Our elephant art prints are inspired by rare vintage illustrations from the period 1600 to 1920. We make them with superb pigmented inks and heavyweight 300gsm German fine art paper made from 100% cotton and spring water.
