Features white leghorn chickens. The leghorn comes from Tuscany in italy. They were exported to North America in 1828 from Livorno in tuscany so became known as "leghorn", as that is the anglicisation of "livorno". White leghorns are commonly used as layer chickens in many countries.
Based on a lithograph from the 1860s by Harrison Weir, which we have carefully restored and enhanced.
